Record asset locations in the Desktop App

Ledger can record the location of scanned assets at a configured fixed location in the Desktop App. An administrator sets the location for the terminal in Admin. The operator reviews scanned assets and confirms the batch.

Before scanning

Ask an administrator to check that:

  • Location tracking is enabled for the organisation.
  • The terminal has a fixed location policy.
  • The configured building or room is active and correct.
  • The terminal is connected and signed in.

The user cannot choose a destination position while scanning. If your workflow needs shelf or rack detail, use the mobile app to choose a position, or configure separate fixed terminals for the locations you need to record.

Record a batch

  1. Open Record location in the Desktop App.
  2. Check the destination shown on screen. It is the fixed location assigned to this terminal.
  3. Start or confirm RFID scanning, then scan the assets at that location.
  4. Review the pending asset list. Remove any asset that should not be included.
  5. Select Confirm to record the location for the listed assets.

The application reports when the location records are saved. If a batch is queued because the connection is unavailable, retry it when the terminal is back online.

If the destination is unavailable or incorrect

Stop before confirming the batch. Ask an administrator to update the terminal’s fixed location in Admin → Locations → Device policies, then refresh the configuration. If the destination changed while assets were pending, discard that batch and scan the assets again at the correct place.

For organisation setup, see Set up Locations in Admin. For user-selected destinations, see Record asset locations in the mobile app.
