Mobile App Walkthrough Guides

Installing Ledger Mobile

This is for disconnected handheld devices / non-TC22 mobile devices that are getting Ledger for the first time.

Obtain 123RFID

Download the app 123RFID Mobile from App Store or Google Play.

Obtain App Tester and Ledger

Make sure your email is registered as an App Tester; you should see an email confirming your invitation.
Follow the instructions in the email to obtain and install the newest version of Ledger.

Logging In

Logging into Ledger Mobile requires an Admin Code from the respective Organisation Admin.

If the user does not have a code, or the code is already used, please request the Admin for another code / retrieve another code if the user is also the Admin.

Updating Ledger Mobile

Ledger Mobile needs to update through the App Tester as it is not currently released to the App Store.

Open App Tester

From your home screen or app drawer, launch the App Tester app and select Ledger. You should see the list of releases for Ledger here.

Retrieve Latest Release

The top release should be labeled ‘Latest’. Press the Download button and wait for it to fully download the release.

Download Permissions

Your device may ask you to allow installing the app. Follow the prompt that leads you to Settings and allow installs from App Tester. (If you lose track, go to your Files app and select the Ledger app again, which will show the prompt.)

Install Ledger

You should be prompted to install the app immediately. Press ‘Yes’. If you lose this prompt by pressing outside of it or pressing Cancel, go to your Files app and select the Ledger app again, which will show the prompt.

Log Into New Release

After installation, use your Invite Code in the Login field or scan its QR code to log back in.

How to Connect the Scanner

Turn On Scanner

If the battery is not already connected, locate the battery and place it in the handle. If it is already in, press the triggers to turn it on. Make sure the Battery icon is not displaying red.

Turn On Bluetooth

Either swipe down from the top of your device, or navigate to your device’s settings. Find Bluetooth and make sure it is turned on. You don’t have to pair the scanner directly in the Settings screen.

123RFID Connection

From your home screen or app drawer, launch the 123RFID Mobile app. If your device is not already built to be connected to a Zebra reader, select the + button at the bottom of the screen. Go to the Barcode tab and scan the barcode with your scanner, then follow the Bluetooth connection prompts. You may have to drag from the top of your device screen to see the notification.

Ledger Mobile Connection

Navigate to the Ledger app, and use an invite code to log in. You can also scan a QR code from that invite code to enter.

Adjust Permissions

Go to Settings and to Apps. Find the Ledger app and enable Nearby Devices as a permission, if the scanner is not connecting.

How to Prevent Scanner Drain

If the mobile device paired to the scanner is attached, the mobile phone can charge from the scanner and drain its battery. Here is how to prevent power drain:

Open 123RFID

From your home screen or app drawer, launch the 123RFID Mobile app.

Find your device

On the Readers screen, select your device (e.g., RFD4030-G00B700-WR) to initiate the connection.

Once connected, tap Settings located at the bottom-right corner of the screen.

Go to RFID, then to Charge Terminal.

Disable Terminal Charging

Uncheck the checkbox next to Enable Charge Terminal. This stops the phone from charging from the scanner.

Save Settings

Tap the Back arrow at the bottom-left of the navigation bar to exit the screen; the app should show a "Settings Applied Successfully" notification.

Allocating Assets to Orders

The main act of making sure an item is ready to deploy or lend.

Check or Configure RFID Scanning Strength

To make sure you have a precise range that does not catch other RFID tags, enter Settings, Scanner Strength Settings and change the scanner power to 0 or as low as possible. This does not mean the scanner will be off, but you will have to place the scanner close to the RFID tag to scan it.

Opening an Order

Locate the Allocate button on the main screen of the Ledger app, and enter Allocate mode.

There are three ways of entering an Order:

  1. Scanning an Identifier tag, typically using a Barcode, which automatically sends you to the matching Order.
  2. Tapping the Search bar and typing an identifier, selecting the matching entry.
  3. There may be a set of Orders already made in the Allocations screen; selecting the right order.

Allocating an Asset

There are different ways of entering an Asset into an Order.

Standard Allocation Scan multiple assets by their RFID tags into the Order, and confirm by selecting Allocate Assets when ready.

Scanned Asset Registration As this usually is a one-Asset-per-Order workflow, you only need to scan the rest of the object's other Identifiers, which will usually also include the RFID tag. This will automatically complete and resolve, allowing you to rapidly finish consecutive orders.

Returning an Asset from an Order

Works through bulk returning.

Check or Configure RFID Scanning Strength

Make sure this device is only for return scanning, as this device will have a much larger scanning area than scanners meant to allocate items to orders. Enter Settings, and inside Scanner Strength Settings, configure the scanning power.

Please be mindful of scanning size. Too much scanning power may result in scans extending past the walls of the room you may be scanning in, or catch other groups of assets not meant to be returned yet.

You are able to test this scanning range with Inventory if the test item tags are already existing Assets.

Gather Returned Assets

The returned assets must be separated from the assets to be allocated, and gathered in one, easily scannable area.

Bulk Returning

Enter Return mode and, using the RFID trigger, scan the area thoroughly and make sure all tags are scanned where possible.

Press Clear when finished.

Mobile Stocktake

A Stocktake must be created via the Desktop App.

Select Stocktake

In the Stocktake screen, select the relevant Stocktake entry.

Scan Items

The items you scan should appear on screen. Stocktakes can be concluded on the Desktop App.

Creating an Asset

When saving an item to be scanned for later, you can create an Asset of it beforehand.

Enter Create Asset

Locate the button on the main screen of the Ledger app, and enter Create Asset mode.

Asset Type Selection

In the field Asset Type, select the appropriate Type. You should be able to see the following fields:

Asset Details

You will need to describe its properties here.

You can minimise details by pressing the top right 'minimise' button, minimising you have written into small display-only chips. You will have to undo this minimisation to re-edit these fields, so it's best to do this after filling the fields out. You can also clear these details using Clear All.

Asset Fields

RFID

Enter an RFID tag via scanning using the reader. Press Add to enter.

Identifier

This has two components: the prefix and the suffix code.
In the example code EX-0123456, EX- is the prefix and 0123456 is the suffix code.

You can either scan or manually type an Identifier.
You may find that the prefix could be repetitive to write for multiple Assets, especially if you are manually typing them in. This comes in the form of ID Groups.

ID Groups

Must be selected after selecting an Asset Type. These groups have unique prefixes e.g. RW-.
This automatically takes the place of a prefix and ensures you don't have to write it down every time, but you can toggle this using the Use prefix switch if there are any exceptions.

If you scan a barcode before adding an ID group, if there is a recognised prefix, it will find the matching Group. If it cannot find any, it will not select a Group.
If you scan a barcode after adding an ID group, if the prefix matches, it should automatically enter only the suffix code so the prefix does not repeat. If it does not match, it will show a warning to either apply the group's prefix or rescan the Asset.

Allowed Groups

While ID groups force a prefix for identification, this field sets where an asset can go and does not change any fields. Leaving it empty means it can be used by any Group.

Finishing a Scan

When an asset is done being scanned and all details are filled out, pressing the Add button clears the RFID tag and the Identifier, but retains the ID Group's prefix and product details, so repetition is easy. If you need to enter a line of a new type of item, press Edit in Asset Details and press Clear All.

How to take a Screenshot with the TC22

Press the Power Button at the top of the phone and the Volume Down button at the side of the phone marked by the minus sign for 1 second.
